How to fill Big Bear lake?

About a year ago I had someone respond to one of my writings about the water level at Big Bear Lake.  He had worked for the DWP up here and we got into a discussion about the water level at the lake. We talked about the program replenish big bear among other things.  We agreed that it is too expensive to try and pump water up the hill.  That would probably cost hundreds of millions of dollars. And since replenish big bear would only supply enough water to add to the level from 1.5  to 5 feet per year that wasn’t going to help since the lake dropped about 5 feet per year due to evaporation.  So, is there an answer?

Maybe.  He suggested that there be a study done to pump groundwater up from under the lake and add to the lake.  It would be a system that would always be available to add water to the lake since the water pumped into the lake would make it’s way down to be pumped back up.  That made a lot of sense to me.  But I don’t know anything about the possibility of this happening.  So I am going to go to the DWP for some answers.  If any of you have any type of information or maybe have an education in this area to give me more information, please contact me.  I will keep you posted.
